Goals.

  • Organize complex information into a 24 page book

Challenges.

As a certified B Corp, the company prioritizes people and the planet alongside profit, embedding sustainability into every level of its operations. From producing organic, fair-trade coffee to innovating with compostable coffee pods, Salt Spring Coffee positions itself as a leader in transparent and responsible business practices within the coffee industry.

Narrative.

My initial process included first selecting and researching Salt Spring Coffee. Gathering information was one of the most difficult things, as there wasn’t a ton of background information on the website, and I had to use news articles to find a lot of missing information. After the information was gathered, I organized it into sections, and planned out the topics for each page of the book. I created a process brief, summarizing the content I had gathered, as well as completed type and color studies to pick fonts and colors for the book. I also did a lot of sketches, and multiple critiques and print out before the final book was printed and bound.

Result.

The final 24-page sustainability book presents Salt Spring Coffee as an accountable and environmentally friendly brand. The project successfully transforms sustainability data into a clear visual narrative, strengthening trust with existing customers and reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to ethical and sustainable practices.
